With all the noise progressives make in the United States and Latin America about rights, privilege, and victimization, you’d think they’d at least be consistent.
Well, as it turns out, they’re not. If you follow their rhetoric closely, you’ll realize that many of the things they scream loudest about are the things they actually care about the least.
1. Victim Shaming
What ever happen to rape-shield laws, and the courtesy of not identifying victims? When progressives decided to go after the Duggars (of TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting fame), they did not for one minute care about the shame they would bring to the victims within the family.
Instead, they went headlong into full public-shaming mode and destroyed the family as a whole for the actions of one Josh Duggar.
2. Treating Juveniles Differently
Speaking of which, court records for juvenile offenders are sealed for a reason: progressives wanted them sealed. It was those evil conservatives who wanted to treat many young offenders just like adults. And let’s face it, sometimes conservatives do go to far on this.
Yet, none of that mattered in the Duggar case. Published reports indicate that the records associated with the case were illegally released.
3. Pedophiles
Sticking with the Duggar case a little longer, when Lena Dunham wrote about using her younger sister as a sex toy, her writings were considered witty and challenging. Her indiscretions were just childhood explorations.
Yet, Josh Duggar — 14 and 15 years old at the time of the incidents in question — was a total pedophile!
Progressives can’t even get the definition of pedophile right: adults who are attracted to prepubescent children. It doesn’t actually apply in either case.
Meanwhile, in England, thousands of teen and pre-teen girls were systematically raped. Progressives kept quiet.
4. Rape Culture
While rape in the United States has declined by 80 percent by some estimates since the 1970s, lots of rapes were happening in England. But not the whole country. Nope, just a few thousand British girls being systematically rapped by Muslim immigrants.
Just this week one of the leaders of CAIR (Council for American Islamic Relations) was arrested along with 100 others in Florida in a child-sex sting. Rape culture? What rape culture?
5. Rape victims
Speaking of rape, how about those male rape victims paying child support to their rapists? What about all of the male victims of sexual assault? Did you know that boys are sexually assaulted more than girls? You probably did not know about that because that would mean there are a whole lot of female sex offenders free on the streets. It does, because there are.
6. Domestic violence
Study after study proves that women are at least as violent as men when it comes to domestic violence. This means that there are about the same number of male victims as female victims. That means, that there should be about an equal number of beds in shelters for men as there are for women right?
Not so fast. In many states and in some entire countries there is not one single bed for male victims of domestic violence.
7. Segregation
In the town I live in there is a gym that is made just for women. No men are allowed. Men are also not allowed in some public parks alone. A man in Canada was recently denied entry to a bike shop because he was a man and only transgender, women and other oppressed genders were allowed in on that day. Meanwhile, more and more leftists are arguing for girls only schools.
Just this month a principle came under fire for prohibited white students form attending a ‘black lives matter‘ event at school. If the problem is whites killing blacks, why not let the white kids in and let them learn about it? (its because blacks are usually killed by other blacks, not white cops)
8. Workers’ Rights
The best ‘right’ a worker can have is a job. Not really as a right, but as a point of fact. The left constantly proposes more and more regulations and laws and the silly 15 dollar an hour minimum wage to ‘help’ workers. Except that it doesn’t. Leftist policies are on full display in Greece, Detroit and Puerto Rico. The result? High unemployment. Good job!
9. The Poor
The United States has spent trillions of dollars over the last few decades helping the poor. Yet the policies have done nothing but create more poverty and overburden and already overburdened middle class. See Greece, Detroit and Puerto Rico for how policies that ‘help’ the poor have created a professionally poor class. It begs the question, how much is a ‘fair share?’
10. The Environment
Never let a good panic slip away. When I was a kid the great scare was the next ice age and the population bomb! Neither of those worked out so well so now we have moved on to global warming. Oh, wait; its called ‘climate change’ now. So the left has proposed a whole bunch of new regulations, laws and treaties that will do absolutely nothing to save the planet.
By the way, that whole over population issue is on the rise again. Look for more government oversight on your personal reproductive choices. Oh wait!? Isn’t that another one they say they care about?
Just remember folks, the things the left screams loudest about only apply to leftists. Conservatives and Libertarians get no such protections or concern. You know, privilege.
